Course Approvals for Restricted Courses Heading link

Restricted Course Approval Information

AHS 330, 393, and 402 are restricted to Applied Health Science students. IHS majors can take these courses as long as they are declared in the major and have met all prerequisites. Students can request approval during registration for their upcoming semester by submitting the Integrated Health Studies – AHS Course Approval Form. The form opens as soon as registration begins for the following term and remains open until Friday of Week 2 of the Fall/Spring terms.

Course overrides will be entered in the order that they are received. Should a course fill before you are able to register, an override will still be entered to allow you to register should a spot open up.

Submit one form for each class you are requesting approval.

IHS students may request approval to register for 300-400 level BIOS courses required for the IHS major by emailing the IHS advisor, Trisha Garcia – tmgarcia@uic.edu, from their UIC email account with the following information:

  1. Full Name
  2. UIN
  3. Course(s) for which approval is needed

Students will be notified within 1-2 business days of their approval. Course overrides will be entered in the order that they are received. Should a course fill before you are able to register, an override will still be entered to allow you to register should a spot open up.

All other BIOS courses not related to IHS should be directed to biosciadvising@uic.edu for approval.

Please note that BIOS 452 is controlled by the Department of Chemistry. If you would like to take BIOS 452 and meet the prerequisites, you may contact the academic advisor for Chemistry, Greg Keller at gkeller1@uic.edu to request an override to register  for this course. Please include the same information as above.
