Integrated Health Studies Academic Advising

The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (LAS) has a two-tiered advising structure. First, all LAS undergraduates have an assigned academic advisor for the duration of their time at UIC. Second, each LAS student will work with departmental (major/minor) advisors who are experts in the major/minor field of study. IHS has a dedicated departmental advisor for students and works closely with assigned LAS and pre-health advisors to advise students with course selection and planning, major or minor declarations, career guidance, graduate school preparation, and referrals to several campus support services and resources.

IHS advising is available to current UIC students at sophomore standing or higher. Advising services are operating in a hybrid model with both virtual and in-person appointment options. Prospective UIC students should work with the UIC Office of Admissions and/or the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Recruitment and Engagement team.

Connecting with IHS Advising

Scheduling Appointments

Advising appointments can be made for questions regarding current classes, long-term course planning, graduate school and career exploration, opportunities for involvement, and much more!  Appointments are offered in a hybrid format, with both virtual and in-person options. Appointments are typically 30 minutes in length and offered between the hours of 9am-12pm and 1pm-4pm, Monday-Friday.

Using iAdvise to Schedule Appointments

  1. Log-in to iAdvise in your my.uic.edu portal
  2. Find “LAS Major Advising” in the services section
  3. Select IHS from the left-hand menu or click here
  4. Click “Schedule Appointment” to see all available appointment times. Both online and in-person options will be displayed.
  5. Choose a time and location (in-person or online) that works best!

Don’t see any available appointments? Advisors add availability weekly and appointments are only shown for two weeks at a time. If you do not see open availability, this means that appointments for the next two weeks are booked. Please check back frequently for new openings.

For online appointments, you will receive an online meeting invitation to your UIC email account. Follow the instructions in the meeting invitation to join your online advising appointment.

For in-person appointments, check-in at 3272 SES with your iCard at the computer kiosk.

Please note that if you are more than 15 minutes late for any appointment, you will need to reschedule.

Online Drop-ins

During the Fall and Spring semesters, online drop-in advising will be available every Tuesday from 2:30pm-3:30pm and on select Tuesdays during peak registration from 8:30am to 11:30am and 1:00pm to 4:00pm during the Fall and Spring semesters. Currently, all drop-ins are held virtually; we do not offer in-person drop-in advising. Summer advising is by appointment only.

During online drop-ins, students DO NOT need to have a scheduled appointment and can be seen on a first-come first-served basis. To see all drop-in dates and times, please visit the LAS Advising drop-in site.

Drop-in Advising Considerations

Drop-in advising is for quick, 5-10 minute registration-related questions. Drop-ins are great for questions related to a students next semester schedule, graduation checks, course approvals, declaring the major and/or switching concentrations. No long-term course planning will be provided during drop-in hours.

Using iAdvise for Drop-in Advising

  1. Log-in to iAdvise in my.uic.edu portal
